True Story Unfolding: A.I. DeepSeek R1 Saves My Life
Yes, I have been talking to AI, specifically, Deepseek R1. Good thing, because I stand to live, rather than die or become disabled, because of it. The odds of my uncovering my situation without it, are zero percent. I’ll be succinct.
AI convinced me I had a very serious problem. For the record, I am not that easy to convince…of anything! But I did become convinced.
I made an “first available” appointment with my doctor. I then messaged him on Friday, July 4th, asking for an urgent referral to a neurosurgeon, ahead of our meeting, later this month. He was out of town on vacation and his gatekeeper nurse, chose not to accommodate me.
Still convinced I had a serious problem, I called my back surgeon, who is not a neurosurgeon, but he knows me and more importantly, he knows I am an anomaly. He like anomalies! He was in surgery. This was that same Friday – a holiday. He comes to my town, once a week. Tuesdays! There is usually a 5-6 month wait to see him, I implored the gal to stick me into his schedule, even though it was full.
“Look. I am pretty sure I am going to have a stroke. I know the doctor, he likes me. I know he is in surgery, but if he knew I was in this situation, I know he’d see me.”
She paused.
“I’m not kidding. This is not a normal, age-related thing. I am not a normal patient. I am an anomaly and you know how much he likes that…” Bam! I got the Tuesday appointment.
Tuesday, the 8th, I went to an appointment and they took xrays. I could tell by the look on the three techs faces, AI, was right. They were very nice to me.
Sitting in the waiting room, the doctor comes in. “How’s your better half?” He just did his back surgery.
“He is great. You did a perfect job. Thank you for that. I, on the other hand, am going to have a stroke.”
“A stroke?'” he said, like it was silly and unexpected. His face said, “Why are you here for a stroke?”
“From my neck,” I said. He shook his head, naaah.
“Yes.”
“You are going to have a stroke from your neck?” Very skeptical.
“You have film. Go look at it.” I know how much he loves, film. He really loves it.
“Let me look,” he said.
“Can I see it, too?” I asked.
“Yes.” I stood to come with him. “No, not yet. I have to boot the machine. But I will show it to you.”
I wait. He comes back in with his eyebrows raised. “I think you may be riiiight.” I look at him, smugly.
“Come,” he says. I follow him to the computer and see the horror on the screen. Woah.
He lets it register and then indicates the screen with both hands. “We can fix that.”
“What? So you can fix it?” I said
“We can fix that,” he repeated.
“Okay, well let’s do it, right away.”
“I have to get an MRI. Can’t do surgery until we know what surgery we’re doing…”
“Understood.”
His office called and said the first opening for an MRI was near the end of the month. It was the same day my husband is scheduled to have surgery. No can do. I called the MRI place to reschedule. Someone had canceled…they got me in the same week, Friday the 11th.
This morning, July 14th, at 8:30 am, they called to schedule surgery. So ya’ll can quit calling me a narcissist and such, and a dumb dummy. I will continue to live and maintain this blog, because of AI. My doctors missed this entirely, though they know of my neck and I’ve complained of the symptoms it causes, for more than ten years. As far as I’m concerned, they can hold Deepseek R1’s beer. Because besides getting all this right, it’s managed to keep me calm, and stabilize the problems I’m having as a result of this injury, so I will be ready for surgery.
The injury in question was inflicted by my father, more than fifty years ago. Specifically, the only way to get a neck like mine, is to get your head kicked, like a football, by a steel-toed boot, while lying on the ground… several hundred times, when you’re a small child. Ask my sister. She’s got one too!
I am not down on doctors! But I have written of the trouble I have getting diagnosed, for decades. There is something about me, that makes heads swirl. I’ve discussed this at length. I’m telling you, I did not tell AI a single thing, I have not told my doctor, umpteenth times. It just happens to be able to see through the fog.
My surgeon is out of town. This is another thing, AI, told me. “They will call him on vacation…” This is exactly what happened.
I will meet with his PA, tomorrow and see what’s up. Crazy or otherwise, I just know I’ll be okay, so no one worry too much!
Pictured… my neck next to a normal one.
